FOR COACHES

WHERE DATA IS EVERYTHING

We all know that coaches play a critical role in athlete development and performance, and in all likelihood, are the ones getting up close and personal with data. Understanding athlete data is everything when it comes to marginal gains, and we’re on a mission to help more coaches understand aerodynamics in a deep and impactful way.

Formal training for aerodynamics isn’t really a thing, and aerodynamics specialists are few and far between. But we’re not just talking about CdA - the Body Rocket system measures around 52 streams of data, and analysing it can be a little mind blowing, to say the least!

Understanding the data insights captured by the system will provide coaches with a powerful advantage when looking for athletes to get the very best performance out of themselves.

"We have looked at many other systems and we don’t see any of them as viable. You’re doing something different”

In this example, the  athlete was having trouble with their saddle position, and kept getting off the saddle to reposition themselves. Body Rocket was able to do a deep dive into this, showing the athlete always unweights their saddle using their left leg, causing an 800W power spike in the process, sapping precious power for no speed gain. We could also show that it wasn’t just a saddle issue. By the time they repositioned on their saddle, they were also pushing forward quite hard on their bars.

With all this new insight, coach and athlete are taking a whole new approach to finding his ideal position.

HOW CAN BODY ROCKET HELP COACHES IMPROVE THEIR ATHLETES' PERFORMANCE?

Holding a great TT position can be difficult and there may be times when an athlete would be better off in a slightly less aero, but more stable position.

We’re looking to set up a Body Rocket Certified Coaches Academy, so coaches all over the world can be trained in measuring, analysing, and monitoring the data that the system is capable of capturing for each and every rider.

Coaches will undergo the necessary training required to understand the complexities of aerdoynamic data and what insights can be gained to help an athlete get faster on the bike.
